Road Naming
Our office facilitates the road naming process. A Road Naming Petition can be requested and signed by owners in support of a private road name. Road names must be first be approved by the Rural Address Office and Emergency Services before the petition is signed. Blue road signs are posted once a private road is named.
Driveways serving 3 or more properties will all eventually need to establish a road name to comply with county resolution #940. Establishing a road name does not change the status or maintenance of the road and the road will remain a private drive, it is mainly to improve the order of addressing and ease of locating properties during an emergency.
